FORMER UNION COUNTY WOMAN IS SUMMONED
Mrs. Lucy Heyl Had Lived South Of Alcester For Thirty-five Years
Her many friends in the community were grievously shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Lucy Heyl, who passed away very suddenly on Tuesday, June 6, 1944, in a hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, following a brief illness. Mrs. Heyl apparently was in poor health for several years, but nothing unusual was noticed until Tuesday, when the children were summoned to learn that she was suffering from a torn muscle in her throat, causing an internal hemorrhage. She was rushed to the hospital immediately, but nothing could be done for her relief, and four hours later the Lord took Mrs. Heyl to His home in heaven.

Lucy Groth was born at Garnavillo, Iowa, December 3, 1873. She was baptized when a baby in the Lutheran faith, and at the age of twelve she renewed her baptismal vows when she was confirmed in, the Lutheran church in Monona, Iowa.
She was united in marriage with Henry C. Heyl on October 13, 1894, at Le Mars, Iowa. To this union six children were born, who survive, as follows: Mrs. Henry Keiser, of Alcester, S.D.; Walter and Wyatt Heyl, of Akron, Iowa; Mrs. Leo Burk, Mrs. Elgin Huston and Russell Heyl, of Sioux City, Iowa; also by four sisters, Mrs. Ed. Heyl, of Coleridge, Nebr.; Mrs. Albert Bortheny, of LeRoy, Minn.; Mary Voorhees, of Sumner, Iowa, and Mrs. Ed. Hilton, of Hudson, Iowa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Heyl farmed in Iowa and during, the past thirty-five years had lived in Union County, S.D., on a farm south of Alcester. Mr. Heyl preceded his wife in death seven and a half years ago. Since that time she made her home in Sioux City with her children.

Funeral services were held Friday of last week at the Peace Lutheran Church, south of Alcester conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.E. Beyer, who paid a fitting tribute to the fine Christian character of the deceased. Interment was in the church cemetery there.
