Mrs. Anna Wilhelmina Looser, mother of two widely known young Lodi business men and herself as old-time resident of this section, passed away at University hospital, San Francisco, Monday evening. She was a native of Indiana, aged 64 years, six months and 21 days.
Mrs. Looser was the widow of the late John Looser to whom she was married in Wisconsin. He was a traveling missionary for the German Reform church and they resided in several states of the union. Leaving Wisconsin, they went first to Wheeling, West Virginia, then to Louisville, Kentucky, then to Boone, Iowa, and then to New Rockford, North Dakota. Mr. Looser's health had been failing and upon the recommendation of his physician he came to California with his family in 1900.
They purchased a piece of land east of Lodi, but only remained for a year, the father being called to a pastorate in Oregon. They remained there for two years, returning to Lodi, where Rev. Looser passed away in 1905. Mrs. Looser made a trip east in 1907 and in 1913 she took her four boys and went to anada, where she intended to settle on some land. She was later called back to Lodi by the illness of a daughter and then in 1914 the war broke out and the Canadian enterprise was abandoned. Mrs. Looser continued to reside in the Lodi district until 1919, when she sold her holdings here and moved to Berkeley.
Her health, which had been excellent during her entire lifetime, began to fail several months ago and despite the best of surgical and medical skill, she continued to fail.
She is survived by five sons and daughters, Benjamin J. Looser and Mrs. F.M. Berry of Stockton; H.E. Looser and Dr. Calvin J. Looser of Lodi; R.V. Looser of San Francisco. She is also survived by five grandchildren.
