Arthur H. Fitch, 85, of Rochester, died Wednesday (March 11, 2009) at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation.

Arthur Herbert Fitch was born Feb. 9, 1924, in St. Paul Park, and graduated from St. Paul Park High School. He led Art Fitch and the Polka Dots dance band for more than 30 years. On May 23, 1942, he married Marian Langland in St. Paul Park. She precedes him in death.

Mr. Fitch started a branch office of Clutch and Transmission in Rochester during the mid-1950s. He was an over-the-road salesman for Clutch and Transmission for many years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Norman of Rochester; a daughter, Kathleen Spearman-Fitch of Henderson, Nev.; and three grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John.

A memorial service and burial will be planned for a later date.
