She was born July 24, 1960 daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Maclaughlin Hemming. She was a 1978 graduate of Oriskany schools, graduated with two degrees from Miller-Motte Business College in Clarksville, TN and from the BOCES LPN Program in Rome. She proudly served her country with the US Army Reserves from 1980-85.
Karen was employed with Special-Metals Corporation, and fondly remembered her co-workers at TECT Utica, Jamestown Container, Pulte Homes, Preswick Glen, and the Keller Theatre of Giessen.
Karen will be remembered for her gorgeous smile, her love of music and the great outdoors, her excellent sense of humor, and her engaging personality that drew people to her. She dearly loved her cat Jade and
looked forward to participating in the Great American Heart Run and Walk every year. Karen thrived in her role as a doting grandmother to three.
