Jerry John Ackman
August 12, 1950 – May 25, 2012

Jerry John Ackman, 61, a native of Belle River and a resident of Hughson, Ca. passed away on May 25, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, Ca. Jerry was a beloved, kind, and fun loving family centered man. He enjoyed spending his time makeing others laugh and bringing a little bit of joy to everyone he met. Jerry worked as a tugboat deckhand and bouncer until he could no longer work and spent the rest of his life dedicated to helping family and friends. Jerry enjoyed getting out and seeing the natural wonders of the world around him and took advantage of every opportunity to do so. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father Dalton Joseph Ackman Sr., mother Gladys White Ackman Aucoin, sisters Ozelia Ackman Caro Beason and Janie Marie Ackman, brothers Thomas J. Ackman Sr., David D. Ackman, Wallace Ackman Sr., and Joseph F. Ackman, his niece Lisa Marie Ackman Batte, and his nephews Herbert Ackman, Troy Allen Ackman and Curtis Batte Jr.
Jerry is survived by his sisters Rita Ackman, Laura Ackman Barbier, and Barbara Ackman of Belle River, La, LeeDonna Ackman Atchley and Pam Ackman Dupuy Dehart of Bayou Vista, La, and Dianne Ackman Sauce of Ricohoc, La, and his brothers Rufus Ackman of Ricochoc, La, Daniel Ackman of Pierre Part, La, Ulysse Ackman of Amelia, La, Dalton Ackman Jr. of Bay St. Louis, Ms, and Ben Ackman his wife Bridgett Ackman, son Brandon Ackman, daughters Britney Ackman Galvan, Meghan Baham and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family request visitation to be observed at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City La. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 31, 2012 beginning at 5:00 pm for family and 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm for friends and family. Visitation will resume Friday, June 1, 2012 from 8am until time of services. Memorial services will be on Friday June 1, 2012 at 11:00 am and burial to follow at Belle River Baptist Church cemetary.
