Mrs. Ball died 27 Jul, 1942, at 8 Lumley Crescent, Skegness, age 64. Her home was 149 Rosecroft Drive, Daybrook, Nottinghamshire. She was the daughter of the late John Smith Moody and Rose Hannah Moody, and widow of Thomas Christopher Ball (married 1903).

Civilian War Dead

An East Coast town [Skegness} was the victim of one of a series of tip and run raids on Monday morning, A Dornier 217, came in from the north east dropping four or five bombs, machine gunned the town and turned and made out to sea again, the whole incident being over in seconds rather than minutes. The bombs fell in a residential area demolishing some houses and severely damaging other's Unhappily, twelve persons were officially posted as injured and five fatal casualties resulted. Three were in the same house, they were Mrs Ada Shaw, her daughter, Miss Florence Lillian Shaw and her married sister Mrs. Helen(sic) Maria Bell, another daughter Maisie Shaw was amongst the injured.
