Marcella, 88, was born on July 20, 1925, the chosen child of John and Alfreda Leonard. She grew up and was educated at Sacred Heart School in El Reno, Okla. Marcella received her Baccalaureate in English from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas and earned her Master's of Education from the University of Oklahoma.

She married James Edward Hendrix on November 16, 1947. Marcella was a teacher. Her first position was at Christ the King Elementary School for many years until moving to Hilldale Elementary School in the Putnam City District. After retiring in 1977, she continued to teach English to Asian Refugees through St. Patrick Catholic Church and Putnam City Baptist Church.

She loved to travel and read. She was an accomplished musician and writer.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Hendrix of OKC, Mary Grimes of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Cory Grimes, James Grimes and Katy Parkinson and her husband Stephen; and one sister, Celeste Nelson of OKC.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
