A 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School, she also graduated from the Meredith Business College in Zanesville. During the 1940's she had worked at Timken Roller Bearing and American News, but most of her career was spent in Dresden. For many years she worked as secretary for Superintendent Norbert Kurtz in the Jefferson and Tri-Valley School District. Mrs. Thomas was a devoted mother and grandmother and a member of the Prospect United Methosdist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Donald P. (Lynne) Thomas of Dresden, Roger H. (Darla) Thomas of Hebron; two grandchildren, Peter (Amber) Thomas of Johnson City, TN and Anna Thomas of Dresden.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold E. Thomas on February 22, 1996, whom she had married September 24, 1947; and an infant son, Lynn Edward Thomas. She was the youngest of ten children in her family and was preceded in death by brothers, John, Donald, Russell and Edwin Prince, two infant brothers; and sisters, Edna Thomas, Mildred Thomas and Violet Prince.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home where services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect U. Methodist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
