U.S. Congressman. He was employed with an electric company until 1916, later in the sales department of a knitting mill, also engaged in the breeding of Ayrshire cattle and Berkshire hogs. In addition, he served as president and director of a water company and as a director of a knitting mill and bottle-stopper company. He was member of the board of school directors for Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, (1914-20), committeeman of Wyomissing Borough, (1917-21) and a member of the Republican Pennsylvania State committee, (1922-24). In 1925, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress, serving until 1927 and again elected to the Seventy-first Congress, serving (1929-31). Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed former business interests until his death at age 52.
