COVINGTON, LESTER LYNN - went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2014. He was born July 26, 1948. He was of the Baptist faith and showed his love for Jesus through his kindness to everyone who knew him. He was a Freemason and worked for the Local Painters Union #437 for many years. Lester was a veteran of the US Army where he achieved the rank of sergeant while serving in Germany and at Fort Hood, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a kind and caring person who had many friends who loved his company and sharing his patio. Lester will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Billie A. Covington; and son, Mike Stringfield; parents, Clifford and Elzora Covington; sister, Kathy Covington; brother, Larry Covington; sister-in-law, Kathy Covington. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Jim Harrison; daughter-in-law Sherry Stringfield; brothers Jimmy Covington and wife Connie, Don Covington, Charles Covington; sisters-in-law, Imogene Covington and Barbara Christman; grandchildren, Donny Moore, Susannah and Tyson Bell, James and Matt Harrison, Andrew Stringfield, and Rachael and Sierra Russell; great grandchildren, Josh, Keely, Kaylynn, Braden, and Valen; several nieces and nephews. Special mention to Brian Carpenter; special friends, Gene Turner, Jo Alice, Jackie and Chuck. Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Larry Teaster and Rev. Eddie Sawyer officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:45 p.m. Sunday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for 1:00 p.m. interment. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
