Anna was born in Horslunde Lollands Nørre Maribo Denmark to Niels Hendriksen and Karen Hansdatter. After the birth of her second child, Anna, she was admitted to Mercy Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.
I was able to obtain her admission card:
- age - 25
- female
- married
- admission county - Scott
- reason for admission - puerperal (postpartum depression)
- admission date - 03/31/1875
- discharge date - 07/08/1878 from Mt. Pleasant and returned to Mercy in Davenport, Iowa.
No death certificate can be found for Anna.

It is believed that she may have died in 1886 as that is when Marcus moved to Upland, Nebraska. There is a tombstone for an Anna Hansen in Davenport, Iowa at Fairmount Cemetery, Rockingham Road in West Davenport. There are three other people buried in the same lot as Anna but believe they are unrelated and as the date of Nov. 18, 1883 is on all of them it could very well be that they were moved from a different site.

The picture was taken in 1870 so it must have been taken in Iowa as she came to America in about 1868; they married in 1872 and Katie, the first child was born in 1873. I had assumed she and Marcus emigrated together but that is not the case and now I wonder who she emigrated with as I highly doubt she would have been allowed to travel alone.

The search continues with love and frustration.
