Horace "Dean" Anderson, 88, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. He was born October 1, 1925 in Wayne, OK. He attended Wayne High School and was a member of the high school baseball and basketball teams for three years and played football one year. In later years he continued to play baseball and reached the semi-pro level. Dean proudly volunteered in 1943 for U.S. Army service in WWII serving in the European Theatre, primarily in Germany until honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt in June, 1946. He never bragged about his military service but in recent years has shared some stories of his war experiences with his family. We are honored to recognize his service to his country. Dean had a charismatic personality which he developed into a successful career in various sales, retiring in 1990 after over 20 years with the Mercedes Benz Dealership in Tulsa. He married the love of his life, Willa Dean, July 13, 1974 and they enjoyed the dance of life together to the fullest with many dear friends. He was a long time member of the Tulsa Elks Club and Moose Lodge #862. He served and enjoyed many good times with both organizations. He continued to play bridge, shoot pool and drive himself to activities each week until this past year when his health declined to the point he couldn't. His other passions in life were golf, and OU sports, especially football. He excelled at golf playing at many Tulsa area courses and was the 1968 Mohawk Men's Golf Association Champion in 1968. His competitive spirit shined through in all areas of sports, cards, and activities he participated in. He loved and was loved by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Willa Dean; his father and mother, Esca and Olive Anderson; brothers, Eugene, Gwynn and Billy Ray and granddaughter, Krista Duncan.
