David was born on December 3, 1936 to George and Sarah Masters, the youngest of ten children. He graduated from Ottumwa High School, married his beloved wife Doratha JoAnn Meredith and joined the army in 1955. After serving his country in Germany he came home to Iowa where he lived until moving his family to upstate New York to further his education. He graduated from Practical Bible Training School in 1967 abd served as Chaplain at Keswick Rehabilitation Center.
He moved to Denver in 1971 and graduated with his Masters in Theology in 1973. He pastored several churches in Colorado until leaving the ministry. Shortly thereafter he went to work for Excel Energy where he retired in 1998.
