J. Keenon Bromberg, Jr., born September 21, 1990, passed away February 8, 2014. Keenon attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Alabama Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. While continuing his college studies, Keenon was employed as a social worker at Times Out, Inc., a nonprofit organization, through which he provided outdoor and recreational opportunities for disabled adults. He was devoted to his clients and was praised for the excellence of his care. He was a graduate of Mountain Brook High School. At Mountain Brook, he was a starting defensive lineman and letterman for the varsity football team. Keenon was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Advent. He was a participant in the Towel Ministry of service to the poor, and a Bible Study member. Keenon had professed his faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior. Keenon was an outdoorsman and an excellent fisherman. He was both skilled and talented in guitar playing and song writing. Taught by his stepfather, he recently discovered the wonders of rock climbing, and was introduced to snow skiing by his mother and stepfather. A constant help to his father and uncle, he assisted them each day at John-William Jeweller. He resided at home with his family, where his daily cheer was a joy to all. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Waller Sellers and stepfather James McBrayer Sellers III; his father, John K. Bromberg and fiancee Amy Hughes; his sister, Elizabeth Taliaferro Bromberg; by his grandmothers, Mrs. William Chambers Waller and Mrs. Eugene Alexander Bromberg; his many aunts and uncles; and his cousins, all of whom will miss him so much. Keenon follows into eternal life his grandfathers, Eugene Alexander Bromberg and William Chambers Waller; and his maternal cousin, C. Kyser Miree. Keenon's life was full of acts of generosity. His final act of selfless giving is the donation of life-sustaining organs to multiple recipients. A graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at Elmwood Cemetery at one o'clock in the afternoon. The funeral will be officiated by Keenon's father's pastor, Father Robert Sullivan of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and by Keenon's youth minister, Mr. Cameron Cole of the Cathedral Church of the Advent. Pallbearers will be Keenon's first-cousins: David Smyth Mckee, III; Brian Bruce Sullivan, Jr.; William Andrew McKee; Charles Keenon Sullivan; John Austin Hay McKee; William Gregory Bromberg, III; Gene Marshall Bromberg, Jr.; Marion Taylor Dawson IV; William Chambers Waller IV; Friends who would like to remember Keenon are asked to consider Times Out, Inc., 1115 Winward Lane, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216; and The Alabama Organ Center, 301 20th St S, Birmingham, AL 35233.
