Richard Robert Anderson, 67, of Brookline, died at Mercy Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, of a heart attack. He was a native of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Anderson served as a medic in the Korean Conflict. He sang with the Barber Shoppers, a group of about 60 singers that performed as quartets who sang and put on skits. He was a crane operator for J & L Steel until he retired. He served as a little league coach. He was a staunch Democrat. Mr. Anderson was easy to talk to, made friends easily, and liked to clown and joke around.
Family members include his wife Florence; sons Michael Anderson of Washington DC, Robert Anderson of Fayette City, and William Anderson of Brookline; brother Earl Anderson of Avalon; sisters Lillian Kutcher of Penn Hills, Grace Boysen of Elizabeth Borough, and LaVern Thompson of Harrison City; and five grandchildren.
A mass will be celebrated today at the Church of the Resurrection, followed by burial at North Side Catholic Cemetery.
