Graveside services for John W. Downey, 97 [sic], Fillmore, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bardsdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Rod Murray officiating. Mr. Downey died Friday in a Ventura hospital after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 30, 1884, in Bartlett, Texas, and was a County resident for 51 years. He worked for the Humble Oil Co. for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Bessie; daughters Lena Allen of Redding, and Lucille McGuire of Fillmore; sister Velma Warren of Oklahoma; brother Earl Downey of Stockton; 12 grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren.
Friends may call at the chapel of Skillin-Snyder Mortuary in Fillmore Monday from 1 to 9 p.m.
