COOKEVILLE Funeral services for James Woodrow Dyer, 69, of Cookeville will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday.
Mr. Dyer died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at White County Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1934, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Ruby Way Dyer.
Mr. Dyer was a railroad maintenance with the Alaskan Railway. He was considered an Alaskan pioneer homesteader, going to Willow, Alaska, in 1961. He was a veteran of the US Army and Air Force.
His family includes four brothers and sistersinlaw, Jack and Sara Dyer of Los Angeles, Calif., Don and Ann Dyer of Cookeville, Frank and Jackie Dyer of Lenoir City and Conrad and Barbara Dyer of Chickaloom, Alaska.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dyer.
