Orla Mayer passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at LifeCare Roseau Manor in Roseau, MN, at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 17 days.
• • Orla Idell Myrtle Reieson, the daughter of Obert and Ida (Bjerk) Reierson, was born on March 21, 1923 in Holt, MN. She graduated from Greenbush High School in 1942. She married Clarence Majer on June 28, 1942 at Poplar Grove Lutheran Church at Rural Strathcona, MN. They farmed and Orla worked as a Nurse's Aide, LPN, and a Ward Coordinator at the Greenbush Hospital and later at the Roseau Area Hospital until she retired in 1990.
Orla was an active member of Poplar Grove Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and the Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. Orla possessed a great sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, coffee time with family and friends. She loved watching the local kids play UND Sioux hockey games. She was dedicated to her work, enjoyed family, church, music and family gatherings.
She is survived by: one daughter, Dana (Ron) Myers of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter-in-law, Caroline Majer of Roseau, MN; grandchildren: Mitchell (Heidi) Sather, Heidi (Oscar) Whitchurch, Muret Crane, Clark (Kaydell) Majer, Shirley (Jack) Danielson, Michael (Ariel) Myers and Rachel (Nick) Humphreys; Great-grandchildren: Sean (Sarah) Sather, Jesse (Brittany) Sather, Blake, Micaela and Wyatt Whitchurch, Krystle (Adam) Gerdes, Candice Lindland, Kendall Majer, Macy Majer, Erica (Dustin) Mertens, Jenna Wensloff, Tylor (Channing) Wojciechowski, several great-great-grandchilden, and one sister, Sharron Williams of Duluth, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Obert and Ida Reierson; husband, Clarence Majer; son, Clair Majer; daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Dean Sather; son-in-law, Joe Crane; sisters, Betty Haugen, Beverly Swan, Shelby Ostmo; brother, Virgil Reierson; and a great-great-granddaughter, Raegan Sather.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Messiah Lutheran Church of Roseau with Pastor Michael Beery and Pastor Todd Erickson officiating.
