Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2003, at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were grandsons. Mrs. McCown was born on January 1, 1913, in Limestone County, Alabama, to George Worley Landers and Sue Dedman Landers.

She worked and lived most of her life in Limestone County working as a homemaker and raising her children. She attended Mable Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Ben L. McCown, a son, Joseph McCown, two grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, Burbon McCown of Roseville, Michigan and James McCown of Jansen Beech, Florida; four daughters, Katie Faulk of Ardmore, Alabama, Mary McDonald of Toney, Alabama, Dona Malotke of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and Barbara Payne of Sterling Heights, Michigan; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
