He was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Crumpton; son, Lt. Col. Mark Winstead Crumpton and wife, Alisa, of Birmingham; daughter, Amy C. Jones and husband, Chris, of Sheffield; brother, Dallas Crumpton Jr.; grandchildren, Alexandria, Christyn, Caitlyn and Courtney.
