AUSTIN -- Lulu S. Fossey, 89, a resident of St. Marks Lutheran Home in Austin, formerly of Lyle, died Wednesday afternoon (April 12, 1995) at the nursing home.
Lulu Jacobson was born Nov. 5, 1905, in Nevada Township, Mower County. She attended Winona State Teachers College and taught in District No. 85 in the Lyle and Rose Creek area. On June 3, 1926, she married George E. Fossey at the Rev. Noss Parsonage. He died June 23, 1989.
She is survived by a son, Gerald Fossey and a daughter, Betty Altum, both of Austin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Ruby (Mrs. Clifford) Mayzlik and Harriet Hanson, both of Austin, and Nona (Mrs. Gordon) Meineke of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial will be in Six Mile Grove Cemetery in Lyle.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
