Emma Henrietta Christina Utecht was the daughter of Ferdinand August Utecht and Louisa Hoffman. She was married to Millard Fillmore Barnes on October 9, 1906 in Dakota City, Dakota County, Nebraska. She was my g-grandmother. She died from complications of diabetes shortly after childbirth. The infant died March 7, 1931 and is buried with her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Barnes, 41 years old, 4349 Fillmore Avenue who died in a Sioux City hospital Tuesday, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Rev. G. A. Matthaidess will officiate. The place of burial has not been selected. Westcott's will be in charge. Mrs. Barnes has resided here 7 years.

A native of Kingsley, Iowa, Mrs. Barnes lived there for many years and later moved to Sioux City. She was born May 9, 1899.

Besides the widower, Mrs. Barnes is survived by five sons, Charles, Irvin, Emory, Melvin and Glenn and six daughters, Grace, Bernice, Mildred, Ruth and Lila Barnes and Mrs. Alice Menard, all of Sioux City; three brothers, William Utecht, of Kingsley, Fred of Sioux City, George of Brigham Lake, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Law and Mrs. Elsie Fish of Sioux City.
