Susan Jane (Scharf) Frantz was called to her heavenly home at 05:22 am on February 15, 2014.
Susan was born on March 4, 1942 in Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH to Robert William Scharf and Margaret Alice (Halliday) Scharf. Susan grew up on the banks of the Ohio River in Aurora, IN; With her brothers James David and David Lee. She graduated Aurora High School and then Purdue University. She taught grade school at the Greendale School, Greendale,IN.She married John Paul Frantz and had two children, Kristan Kay and Donald Lee.
Together they owned the S & J Hobby Hut until it closed. Susan worked as Activities Director and Social Service Director for Terrace View and Woodland Hills Care Center. She then became an ombudsman at Council on Aging (Area 12). After that she worked for a short time for Three Rivers care Center before her retirement. Susan was an avid supporter of the Girl Scouts, and was a member and leader for well over 25 years. Some of her fondest memories were the times spent at Camp Ladigrau. Instead of nursery rhymes and songs she would sing camp fire songs to her children as they grew up. Susan loved the Ohio River and watching the ducks and geese at various places around Southeastern Indiana. Susan will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father Robert William Scharf, Mother Margaret Alice (Halliday) Scharf, Brother James David Scharf, Granddaughter Anna Donk, Niece Anne Logan Scharf and Father in Law Darrell Maxwell Frantz. She is survived by her brother, David Lee Scharf, daughter, Kristan Kay (Frantz) Donk and her husband Matt Donk, son Donald Lee Frantz, grandson Alex Maxwel Juliano, nephew David Lee Scharf & family, niece Elisa (Scharf) and family, cousins and MANY friends. Susan is to be cremated and her ashes scattered over a hill over looking the Ohio River, in Aurora, IN. She has a CENOTAPH in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
