Adaline Flanders of the Creek Nation was married to William (Billy) Bruner. She was the mother of Iona, Bessie, Lilly, Loney, Nellie, William, Lyman and Richard Bruner. She is laid to rest in the Bruner Family Cemetery beside her husband Billy. The Bruner's home was just up the road from the Cemetery and the land for the Cemetery was donated to the family by Adaline and Billy. It's said that Adaline worked as an interrupter, she spoke fluent Creek. There is some confusion about Adaline's maiden name due to her and a brother using different spellings on the Native American Indian Rolls. Her father is possibly named Edward Flanders or (Flanley Flanlie) and her mother Coody (Coodie, Cootie??) Asbury. There is a family member who carries the nick name Coody and it is pronounced Cuddie. The Bruner's lived in a two story home between Bixby and Beggs. Adilen's son Loney Bruner fought in WW1 and served in France. 2 of her other children attended Carlisle Indian School In Pennsylvania and Carlisle School Records contain records of letters from Adaline as well as a letter from the boy's guardian that speaks to the family's reputation. Her husband Billy Bruner was noted as a well respected citizen in the community.
