Lois Virginia (Timms) Benton, a longtime resident of Mineral, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 after a long gallant fight against Parkinson's Disease. She was born December 1, 1935 in Seattle, WA After graduating from Morton High School in 1953, Lois married Robert S. Benton on June 29, 1954 in Morton, WA. They made a home in the Ballard area of Seattle until moving to Mineral in November 1967.
Lois was a member of the Mineral Lake Lions Club, Charter Member of Morton #0728 T.O.P.S. Club, Charter Member of American Legion Storm King Unit #171 Lady's Auxiliary, Life Member of Order of the Eastern Star Faith Chapter, Life Member of VFW Lady's Auxiliary, and the Mineral Presbyterian Church where she played the piano for 46 years.
She worked for the Post Office during the holiday rush seasons while raising her young children, later working as a bookkeeper for an auto dealer, a dental assistant and then reservations specialist for Mount Rainier Guest Services where she retired in 2001.
Lois enjoyed gardening, picking berries to make delicious jam, digging razor clams, swimming in Mineral Lake, making music, but her biggest joy came from helping the people of her community.
Her husband, Bob, and a son, Barry, preceded Lois in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori, and sons Rick and wife Brenda and Bill and wife Kathy, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Mineral Presbyterian Church on February 15th at 2:00PM. Interment at the Mineral Cemetery will follow then a reception at the Mineral Fire Hall.
