Wife of Clayton Osborne Chitty — married November 19, 1917 in Colquitt, Georgia
Great Grandmother Chitty lived in Moultrie, Georgia on the Farm her and Great Grandpa ran. I believe it was about 500 acres, with Corn and Tobacco, and she had a vegetable garden as well on the property.
Pearl was an excellent business woman and owned several businesses in town.
She was really funny, cooked the best (huge) meals, and loved to giggle, sing, play the piano, and read the bible. She loved the Barn cats and would feed them even after Great Grandpa would. She was protective and loving, and never would let me use a real knife, she was always scared I'd get hurt. She made homemade ice cream and her breakfasts were wonderful and amazingly delicious.
When I was little she would have me read her the bible like I was preaching, and sing Jesus loves me to her. She liked to play the piano and sing hymns.
She never would let me go outside without her, because she told me there was a big ole' snakes nest in the hole of the front walnut tree & gators. We would sit on her front porch and swing. My favorite thing she would say is "Whoopsy child" if she dropped something, and she'd start giggling. It made me laugh.
She did have many ailments, but she loved and trusted in the Lord Jesus. On the day I was to Graduate from High school she passed away. June 1, 1988. I will never forget that day.
*I seem to be a lot like her and have inherited many of her ailments, but I also inherited all the wonderful things that made her Unique and her.*
Pearl was short about 5 foot tall and had Auburn hair.
She wore a wig once she started to lose her hair, and it was usually a red wig that she's let me try on for giggles everyone once in a while. She loved the color pink too.
