Born in Georgetown, Pa., Dec. 8, 1932, son of the late Charles D. and Rose Gosch Adney, he was a member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1951 and was active with his class reunion committee.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellsville, he had served as chairman of the Administrative Board, trustee and as a member of the finance committee.
Retiring as a Boilermaker from the former Crucible Steel Mill in 1982 after nearly 33 years of service, he then was employed by Cornwell Quality Tools in Magador. He then worked as a boilermaker at Gladwin Engineers in Columbiana.
Past Master of Negley Lodge 565, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville, he also was a Past Patron of Wellsville Chapter 417, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Iva Chapter 311 of Lisbon, Order of the Eastern Star, and a Past Advisor of Harding Chapter and George T. Wilson Chapter, Order of DeMolay.
A Scoutmaster of Troop 15 of West Point, he also was an assistant Scoutmaster of Troops 59 and 15, and a Cubmaster of Packs 19 and 59.
His wife of 54 years whom he married Oct. 31, 1951, survives at home.
A daughter, and two sons survive.
A sister, and a brother,
There are three grandchildren. Five nieces, also survive.
Three sisters, Lucille Gerber, Loretta Springer and Edith May Zeiner, and two brothers, Charles Adney and Otto Wade Adney, preceded him in death.
Services were handled by Dawson Funeral Home.
A Masonic service was held.
The Rev. Duane Hetzer were conducted services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial is in Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville.
