Dorothy Louise Jones was born on March 21, 1939 (The Very First Day Of Spring) in West Memphis, Arkansas. She was the first born to Fred Miller and Flossie Miller.

She had graduated from Wonder High School in West Memphis, Arkansas with an an A average.

She moved from West Memphis, Arkansas to Chicago in 1957. In June of 1960, she united in Holy Matrimony to Harry Shaffer Jones and from this union they had four children.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She then became a faithful member at Freedom Temple Church of God in Christ, this happened in 1968, and under the leadership of Bishop Cody V. Marshall. There she was the Secretary for twenty three years and a faithful member for thirty. She united with Anointed Word Ministries under the leadership of Apostly Jerinad Powell and Pastor Linda A. Powell in 2000.

She had worked in Niles, Illinois for several years and worked at Unilever HPC for twenty four years.

Dorothy was a very loving and quite devoted mother and grandmother, she was also very caring. She always made you laugh in any situation. She also gave when there was a need. After a long battle her life ended on Saturday, November 19, 2005.

She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted sister, Freddie Lucas; and four children, Michelle Congress, Renee Jones, Veatrice Jones and Harry Shaffer Jones III; devoted son in law, Jeffery Congress; twelve grandchildren, Tameka Johnson (Johnny), Jennefer Morris, Lanae Jones, Je'Shawn Stevenson, Latoya Jackson, Jemery JOnes, Demetrius Jones, Chanice Jones, Harry Shaffer Jones IV, Nakara Jones, Jasmine Jones "Bird" and Jonathan Congress; ; Seven great grand children, James, Jabria, Jahnna, Brianna, Alyssia, Johnny and Mariah; nieces DeDe, Angie, Angela Lucas, Theresa Lucas and Janet Lucas; nephew, Jerome Jones; loving cousins, Brenda and Gwen of West Memphis, special goddaughters, Lashawn Domas, Michelle Cox, Tina Evans and family; special godsons, Branch Reed, Rickey Cox adn Willie Jackson; devoted friends, MOther EleanorWhite, Sandra Rogers, Mother Mary Spiller, Charlene Samuels, Gracie Hardwick and Brenda Buggs; and a host of other relatives and friends.

I did not know Dorothy but I worked with her eldest daughter inside the Department of Corrections (Cook County Jail, in Chicago). Michelle is a very caring women who gives alot of herself to others and if her mom (Dorothy) is anything like her daughter, than I truly believe that I have met her mom, Dorothy, thru her. I wish Godspeed to her family and that one day they can rejoice with thier loved one so that not all seems lost. I promise, one day it will get better. But for now just know that Dorothy is with her maker and as a devoted member of the church she is happy and "is" with you all in some form, for now just know that she DOES love you all very much.
