Carrie Jo Sturms

Carrie Jo Sturms, age 74, of Fayetteville, formerly of North Sandbranch, Beckley, passed away at the Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.

Born on Aug. 23, 1939, at Skelton, she was the daughter of the late Everette Gaylor and Mildred Taylor Gaylor.

Mrs. Sturms was a homemaker, and a former employee of the CIA in Washington, D.C.

She was a member of the Mountain View Church of God at Hilltop, and had lived in the Beckley area most of her life. Her special interests were her family.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Sturms, a sister, Rose Fox, two brothers, Ballard Gaylor and Carl Gaylor.

Surviving are her daughter, Pam McKnight and her husband Bill, of Fayetteville; a sister, Kay Ferguson and her husband John, of Calif.; grandchildren, Carrie Clendening of Charleston, Jeffrey McKnight and Kaylee McKnight, both of Fayetteville; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Lane, of Charleston; several nieces, a nephew and a brother-in-law, Lyle Fox, of Beckley.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 3 p.m. with her brother-in-law John Ferguson officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be John Ferguson, Bill McKnight, Jeffrey McKnight, Jeff McKnight, Doug Staker, Noah Staker and Zachary Staker.
