He was a long-time Mason and Shriner. He was survived by a son, William, and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret R. Gilmore.
Upon his retirement from the railroad he moved to Kansas City, where he died. He was cremated, and his ashes interred next to those of his wife of 31 years.
