Son of Joseph Gundry and Josephine Alexander, of 15, Eldridge Rd., Croydon.

He was educated at Bootham School, York and the South-Eastern Agricultural College. Wye. In 1908, Christopher was awarded a B.Sc. in Agriculture. He would remain at Wye as a staff member for another year. He went to Rome in 1909 as redacteur in the International College of Agriculture and continued there until early 1916 when he returned to England to join the army.

He was keenly interested in natural history from his youth until the end of his life. In Flanders he kept lists of the various birds he observed during the fall and winter seasons.

Christopher was killed by a shell whilst being conveyed in an ambulance after being wounded. Age: 30.
