Travis Milton Rice resident of Columbia passed from this life on December 11, 2017 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. Travis was born on July 20, 1936 at Columbia to the union of his parents Irvin Franklin Rice and Effie M. Smith Rice . Mr. Rice worked at numerous occupations throughout his life but carpentry was his primary love. Travis played the guitar and sang with his precious wife Syble who preceded him in death in 1999. They played in a lot of churches in their time and blessed so many people with their gift of ministry in song. To know them was to love them. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and by six siblings and he was the last remaining member of his family. Travis also served in the United States Marine Corp.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons Travis Michael Rice of Columbia and Wayne Rice and his wife Mary of West Monroe, and his sweet daughter Amanda Rice Cockerham of Sterlington; his sister-in-law Becky Rice of Calhoun; eight precious grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Rice Family lovingly chose cremation as a means of disposition and will have a private family memorial committal at a later time.
