Dale Leroy Vernon, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 5:30 a.m. in Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation, Valparaiso, IN.

He was born February 28, 1935 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Roy and Gladys (Boyd) Vernon.

On April 18, 1959 in Scottsburg, IN he married Alice L. Clampitt who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are 2 daughters, Lisa Vernon of Chicago, IL and Lori (David) McCoy of Michigan City, IN; 2 sons, Larry Vernon of The Pines, IN and Less (Vicki) Vernon of Otis, IN; brother, John (Bev) Vernon of Seneca, IL; step-brother, Rick (Rose) Taylor of Westville, IN; 4 grandchildren, Callie, Justin, Aaron and Joshua; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Dale retired as a baker at Costas Foods, Valparaiso, IN and also had worked at I.S.P. as a correctional officer and Lowes.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Skwiat Post 451. Dale enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets.

There will be no visitation.

Private family graveside services and burial will take place in Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg, IN.
