Robert was an Army Veteran.
He worked in the banking industry with 32 years at Citizens National Bank, Sr. Vice President; 15 years as President and Chairman of the Board at First Bank & Trust in Oakland City, Ind.; Board member of Harrisburg National Bank in Harrisburg, Ill.; past board member of Oakland City University; past president of YMCA, Evansville, Ind.; past president of Evansville Rotary Club; member of Melody Hill Free Methodist Church; served on multiple boards and committees, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He retired to Pensacola, Fla., in 2000 and met many close friends and attended Campus Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Fred (Barbara) Harnishfeger; and sister, Carol (Dick) Albin.
He is survived by children, Susan (Alan) Shaw and Robert (Robin) Harnishfeger, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin, Erica, Andrea, and Evan Rohrer, Amanda Harnishfeger, Andrew (Kristin) Habbe, and Jennifer (Lance) Simms; great-grandchildren, Ava Simms and Damon Curtis; sister, Wanda (William) McRoy; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Melody Hill Free Methodist Church, 5600 Ward Road, Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. John Lefler officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
