End of Obituary.
GW's natural mother was Marietta "Etta" Johnson, of Wheeling, West Virginia. She completed a birth record naming her son "George William" and gave her name as Etta Johnson. She took the child to his adoptive father George Edward Griffin I (FAG 14342113) and his wife Virginia Keys Griffin aka Jennie. According to his cousin Alice Griffin Tucker, GW was not to know about his parentage until he entered the military and his birth record had to be found. Alice and her brother Dick were living with GE and Jennie at the time the baby was brought to this home. Alice was very aware this was not the natural son of Virginia Keys Griffin, although this was what Virginia claimed at the time. Virginia was unable to have children. In 2023 DNA has proven George William to be the natural son of Henry Lewis Kozen (1891-1970).
