Kermit Bakke, 68, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Swarstad Chapel in Northwood. Kermit was born December 1, 1944 in Northwood, ND to Kermit and Helen (Holweger) Bakke. He grew up in Northwood and graduated from Northwood High School. Kermit attended college in Fargo for auto mechanics. He later owned and operated his own auto repair business. Kermit loved drag racing. He owned Bakke racing and drag raced in Brainerd, MN many times. Kermit also loved archeology, gardening, dancing and hunting. Kermit is survived by his wife, Barbara, Larimore, ND; children: Kory, Mischelle, and Christine, all of the Minneapolis Area, and seven grandchildren. Preceding Kermit in death were his parents, brothers Jacob Bakke and baby Frederick Bakke, and sister Virginia Halvorson.
