She was born March 18, 1925 in Ft. Garland to Hebert Violo and Ethel Mae Henderson John.
Alzera worked in the agriculture and mining industries for many years. She enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family, camping and working in her garden and yard.
Her parents; her husbands, LaVern M. Turner and Glenn Gunter; her brother, Elmer John; and her sisters, Lela Rippeto and Louise Carroll, precede her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas L. (Mary) Turner of Fairborn, Ohio, Walter W. (Chris) Turner of Alamosa, Charles A. (Robin) Turner of Billings, Mont.; David G. (Becky) Gunter of Stockton, Calif., Robert E. (Dawn) Gunter of Appleton, Wis. and Patrick K. (Kandace) Gunter of Alamosa; her siblings, Paul (Martha) John of Blanca, Ida Canales of Ft. Garland, Grace Stephens of Alamosa, Carl John of Pueblo and Verna Cordova of Ft. Garland; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the United for Christ Church in Blanca, with burial following in the Alamosa Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, which is directing arrangements.
