BOTTOM, STANLEY "BUCKET" Age 87, passed away at his home in Banning on November 22, 2005. He leaves his wife, Thelma; 2 sons, Stanley C. and Larry W.; 5 granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Justine Dugan from Seal Beach. Stanley and Thelma moved to San Jacinto in 1937. He was employed as a Heavy Duty Machine Operator at the Peerless Pipe Co. He later became Director of Maintenance and Operations for the San Jacinto Unified School District. He was active in all sports in high school and soon joined local teams in softball and baseball. He became Sports Editor for the San Jacinto Register and wrote a column called "From the Bottom of the Bucket". He organized the San Jacinto Nighthawks Softball Team that won Southern California Softball Champions in 1947. He also organized San Jacinto High School Booster Club and Little League he was the first Commissioner known as Mr. Little League of San Jacinto. He organized a work force that built the first night lighted baseball field. He coached a Little League Team, the Alumni Football Team, the Hemet Hawks Men's Softball Team and the Women's Hawklets Softball Team that won the National Championship in 1978. Civic activities include: San Jacinto City Councilman from 1956 to 1960. He was awarded a recognition certificate for outstanding service to the community in 1963. San Jacinto High School dedicated their annual to Stanley for his support for all school activities. Golfing became Stanley's interest after retirement and we see him now on Heaven's beautiful golf courses doing what he loves most.
