Dies After Service
Samuel E. Osgood, 63, 112 W. Minnehaha parkway, died in General hospital Tuesday of a self-inflicted bullet wound. Dr. Russell R. Heim, Hennepin county coroner, reported.
Mr. Osgood, president of S. E. Osgood Co., coffee firm, was found wounded in the basement of his home about an hour after he returned from Memorial day services at Fort Snelling National cemetery.
Dr. Heim said he had been distraught over the death of his son. Richard. 19, who was killed in Italy during World War II. The son's body has been reburied at Fort Snelling.
Mr. Osgood is survived by his wife. Emma; two daughters, Jean Osgood and Mrs. Frank T. Jones, both of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Allen and Mrs. W. F. Young, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. E. S. Roberts. Los Angeles, Calif., and four brothers, H. W. Osgood, LaBelle, Mo.; F. C., Huntington Park, Calif.; E. P., Long Beach Calif., and J. B. Osgood, Kansas City, Mo. There is one grandson.
Services will be at 3 p. m. Thursday in Lakewood chapel.
