Mrs. Waterman suffered from a heart ailment and had been cared for in the nursing home for about a week.
Dora Smith, a daughter of George and Martha Smith, was one of a family of 11 children. She was born April 30, 1873, at Lone Tree, Iowa. She moved to Kimball, S. D., with her parents at the age of 13 and near here her parents homesteaded. She received her education while living at Kimball.
In the early 1890's the family moved to Hawarden and she lived here until July 18, 1912, when she married Arthur L. Waterman at Gunnison, Colo. Seven years later she returned to Hawarden with her family and has lived here continuously for the past 35 years.
While at Kimball she united with the Presbyterian church and later she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church in Hawarden. She also united with the Ladies Aid of this church.
Survivors are the widower, and a son, Gailon, at home; three sisters and four brothers, Miss Carrye and Burr Smith of Hawarden, Mrs. Albert Williamson of Redfield, S.D. , Mrs. M. M. Potter of West Union, Iowa, Harry Smith of Caruthers, Calif., William B. Smith of San Leandro, Calif., and R. A. Smith of Portland, Ore.
