Viola Beede 102, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully January 2, 2015 at her daughter Beverly Stanfield's home.

Viola was born on February 26, 1912 in Guide Rock NE to Grace and Howard Foutz, their only child. When she was a small child the family moved to Pierce CO in a covered wagon, where she graduated from Pierce High School.

In 1931 she married Frank Beede. They moved to Loma, CO in 1938 where they farmed until retiring and moving to Phoenix in 1972.Viola and Frank had two daughters, Beverly and Carolyn.

Viola was a very talented woman, she was a 4-H Club Leader, Mother Advisor for a International Order of Rainbow for Girls Assembly, she sang in the church choir, was a fine seamstress, an excellent cook, played the organ.

She was an oil landscape painter. One of her paintings hung in the Senate Office Building in Washington D.C. She was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church, a 70 year member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a Life Member of Glendale Chapter #20.

Viola is preceded in death by, Frank, her husband of 67 years, son-in-law, Colonel Bruce Mathews.

She is survived by daughters, Beverly Stanfield (Jack) of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Mathews, Litchfield Park, AZ, Grandchildren: Joyce O'Connor (Paul), Rimrock, AZ, Cindy Fleming (Bernie), Waddell, AZ, MG Roger F Mathews, USA Retired, (Connie) Colorado Springs, CO, Frank Stanfield, (Linda), Glendale, AZ, Grant Stanfield (Nanci), Scottsdale, AZ, Craig Mathews (Debbie), Mobile AL, Bentley Stanfield (Andrea), Peoria. AZ, 13 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: United Methodist Foundation, Mathews Scholarship, 1550 E Meadowbrook Ave, Phx, AZ 85014 and/or Phoenix Scottish Rite Foundation for Learning Disabilities, PO Box 26730, Phx, AZ 85068-6730. And/or Shrines Hospital for Chldren,c/o El Zaribah Shrine, 552 N 40th St, Phx, 85008.

Funeral services will be held at Mission Bell United Methodist Church, 4645 W Bell Rd, Glendale, AZ, Friday, January 9th at 11.00A.M.

The visitation will be prior to the service at 10.00A.M.
