Ina Jackson Easton was peacefully released from her sojourn on this earth 25 June 1999 in Sacramento, California, to return to her Heavenly Parents and other loved ones.

She was born in Randolph, Utah, to Richard and Catherine Corless Jackson, 15 February 1909, where she was raised with 11 brothers and sisters. She attended Rich County schools and the University of Utah. In 1937 she married Alex Easton from Kemmerer, Wyoming, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and was a faithful companion for 56 years until he died of Alzheimer's disease in 1993. They resided in Southern California for over 40 years and then finished out their lives in Sandy, Utah. Ina was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She served two full-time missions: one to Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 19, and the other to the Alabama, Birmingham Mission with her husband, Alex, in 1980-81. She had a variety of callings in the church, including ward and stake Relief Society president, Sunday School and teacher development teacher, dance director and special interest advisor.

Her 90 years on this earth were filled with service and accomplishment. She taught elementary school for many years and was particually committed to teaching reading. Outside the classroom, she tutored countless students in her home in reading, many of them older teens and adults. She was a pioneer of the early morning seminary program in Southern California where she taught hundreds of students over an eleven year period.

Ina will be remembered for her love of music, her lovely singing voice, her performances in her early years in musical theater, her impeccable housekeeping, her homemade pies, her beautiful rose garden, her delight in a good party, her sense of humor, and most especially , her love of family and friends. Throughout her life she kept a positive attitude in spite of many years of pain and suffering and continually rose above impossible odds. Her independent spirit was an inspiration to many, especially her children and grandchildren.

Ina's family wishes to express appreciation to the many care givers who made her final years more pleasant and comfortable, particularly Rema, Phil, and Darrell Stout and the staff at Woods' Retreat in Sacramento.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all her brothers and sisters; and her husband, Alex. She is survived by her son, Jim (Susan) Easton, of Sacramento, California; her daughter, Kathy (John) Thueson, of Sandy, Utah; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 29 June 1999, at the Sandy Crescent Stake Center, 10945 South 1700 East in Sandy at 12 noon. Friends may call on Monday at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East Sandy, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Stake Center from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
