Roberta was born December 7, 1934 in Mauston, Wisconsin the daughter of Kyran and May (Carraway) Cassidy. She graduated from Madison Central High School. On June 23, 1956 she married the love of her life, Dennis Fitzgerald, and they lived in Lyndon Station where they raised their family. Roberta worked as a teachers aide and secretary at the Lyndon Station grade school for over 30 years. She was very active in the community services and helped with Red Cross blood drives and she took it upon herself along with her friend, Carol Finnegan, to oversee fund raising and activities at the Lyndon Station ballpark, later named the Travis Fitzgerald Memorial Park after her grandson’s passing. She was also very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served as a lector for over 22 years. Being 100 % Irish, Roberta was a proud member of the Shamrock Club and the Red Hatter’s Club.

Roberta is survived by her sons, Kyran, Darren (Laurie) and Shane (Christy) all of Lyndon Station; daughters, Denise (Olaf Gregerson) Rasmussen of Wisconsin Dells and Deanna (Jerome) Senzig of Lyndon Station; grandchildren, Tori Fitzgerald, Amber Rasmussen, Mariah Schulz, Patrick Senzig, Kyra Fitzgerald, Keely Senzig, Cassandra Senzig, Keegan Fitzgerald, and Conor Fitzgerald; great grandchildren, Kyran Fitzgerald, Aidan Rasmussen, Tasha Fitzgerald, Madelyn Payant, Brody Golden, Kobe Armstrong, and Rylee Senzig. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; and grandson, Travis.
Berta had a love of people (children and adults), animals and a great joy in life itself! She had a warm, infectious smile that would make anyone feel better just to be around her.
If Berta's essence could be put into a magic pill, the whole world would be Disney Land!
Berta was an only child who longed for siblings growing up. Later, as a teenager and young adult, she longed for nieces and nephews. She said she felt so lucky when she married "her Denny" because he came with a huge family. Suddenly she had the sisters and brothers and nieces and nephews she always wanted in great measure! But, in my opinion, it was we, Denny's family, who were the lucky ones to have Berta join our family!
