Lila Marie Birch-Horn, 94, a resident of Willamette Manor in Lebanon, died Monday in Lebanon.

Lila was born in Boise, Idaho, the daughter of Ernest Harold and Olive Marie Elmore-Birch.

She attended schools in the Boise area. Lila attended and graduated from Pacific Bible College in Azusa, Calif., in June 1947. She taught school in Oregon before going to Japan, where she taught the children of U.S. Army officers. While in Japan, Lila did missionary work when she was not teaching school. She also did missionary work among the Indians for three years.

Lila taught school in Crawfordsville, Reedsport, Agness and Sweet Home. She also pastored a church in Lancaster, Calif.

Lila married George Washington Horn on Aug. 8, 1970. George and Lila lived in Bend. George died on June 19, 1981. When George passed away, Lila moved to Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olive and Ernest Birch, and her husband, George Horn.

Lila is survived by brothers John of Davis, Calif., Raymond of St. Helens, and Merle of Corvallis; nine nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.hustonjost.com.
