Timothy Michael Allen, 45, of Effingham, born Sept. 8, 1962, beloved son, brother and uncle, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, after a long battle with heart and lung-related illnesses.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, and
for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham. Timothy will be buried in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to Children's Memorial Foundation in Timothy Allen's name. Donations will benefit children in the cardiac unit and their families. Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago, was a major contributor to the extension and improvement of the quality of Timothy's life. Because of the cardiac care group, he was able to run and play with his sisters and schoolmates and grow into the man we knew and loved.
Timothy was baptized, confirmed and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham.
Timothy, who called Effingham home, was a teacher, photographer and country music fan. He always was a student, learning from life and teaching others. He was strong in the face of his condition and fun-loving around his family. He liked a good laugh and was fiercely independent.
A 1980 graduate of Effingham High School and a 1984 grad uate of Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. Timothy taught elementary students history in Abington and Mill Shoals. Timothy, an avid collector of sports memorabilia, coins and music, was a fan in every sense. He followed his St. Louis Cardinals, Illini and Minnesota Vikings every play. He tracked the careers of his favorite artists, as well as his family, closely. A good listener, he was always interested and interesting.
Timothy is survived by his parents, Alice (Siebert) and Larry Allen of Effingham; and two sisters, Tamara Allen of Los Angeles and Tonya (husband, Jeffrey) Faber of Chicago. He also is survived by his grandmothers, Margaret Allen of Effingham and Loma Siebert of Altamont, as well as his niece, Abigail Faber of Chicago.
