"No one is ever gone as long as someone still has memories of them."- Ed Worthington

Dad passed away, unexpectedly, while being treated at Riverside Memorial Hospital for an extended illness. He was 55 years, 4 months, and 27 days young!

The following appeared in the Humeston paper the week of his death:

He attended school in Humeston, Iowa and on Feb. 24, 1934 was united in marriage to Charlotte Hartshorn. To this union eight children were born; Mrs. Peggy Tully of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Norma Selland of Portland, Oregon, Robert of Beaumont, California, Larry of Houston, Texas, Gary who died at age of 3 months, Harold with the US Army in Okahoma, Donna of Portland, Oregon and Diane, Donna's twin sister, who died at the age of 1 year.

He with his family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1939, later moving from there to Banning, California where he engaged in the rug cleaning business until poor health caused his retirement two years ago.

Besides his 6 children, he leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, one sister, Mrs. Gladys Moore of Gresham, Oregon, two brothers, Harry of Gresham, Oregon and Harlen of Des Moines, 10 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Two brothers, Lloyd and George preceded him in death!

Sevices were held at 2PM April 3, 1968 at the Hutchinson Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Roy E. Jones of the Baptist Church.

Flower ladies were Olivene Jennison and Nell Roe. Pallbearers were Floyd Russell, Clay A. Pryor, Wayne Pryor, Guy Pryor and Robert Olmsted.

Thought it would be worth a mention that Dad went out to Portland Oregon, long before the rest of the family, to secure work and a place to live. He along with a few other members of his family and friends, hopped Freight Trains to get them from Iowa to Oregon. Quite common practice in those days! Thanks dad for giving us a chance at a better life!!!
