"Ralph J. Wilber, of 68 Church street, Oneonta, for fifty years employed by the machine shop there of the D. & H. company, died at the Mary Imogene Bassett hospital at Cooperstown Saturday just after noon and just before the funeral of his wife, who died at the family home Thursday, was held from the residence. Mr. Wilber had been in failing health for a number of years, but had continued with his work until about a year ago. About three weeks ago he was taken to the hospital and his condition had been critical for about a week. Robert J. Wilber was born at Fergosonville September 17, 1849, and in 1865 married Alice B. Munson of Ashland. About fifty years ago they came to Oneonta which had since been their home, Mr. Wilber being employed throughout that time by the D. & H. company. He was a quiet but friendly man who had hosts of friends and their sympathy will be extended to his daughter, Mrs. Mae Fox, who had made her home with her father and mother for fifteen years, helping care for both in their infirmities, now doubly afflicted, and to one brother, George Wilber of Galesburg, Ill. Funeral services for Mr. Wilber were held from his home, 68 Church street, Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Dr. C. S. Pendleton and burial was made at Glenwood cemetery."
