Evelyn Shusta, age 92, formerly of Maribel, died Saturday morning, April 16, 2011, at her residence in Denmark.

The former Evelyn Bohacek was born on December 4, 1918, in the town of Gibson, daughter of the late William and Anna (Valenta) Bohacek. She attended Melnik school. On August 24, 1938, Evelyn married to Victor Shusta at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. Victor and Evelyn owned and operated The Kellnersville Bar until moving to Maribel in 1957. Victor preceded her in death on December 28, 1966. Evelyn had worked at Hamiltons in Two Rivers for 20 years, retiring in 1983. After her retirement, she cleaned at the Denmark State Bank in Maribel until she reached the age of 88. Evelyn enjoyed doing things for other people and helping take care of the elderly. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville, St. Joseph Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella-Denmark, Norman Czechs, Happy Hoppers Dance Club, Kellnersville and Maribel Senior Citizens, Hamilton Retirement Club, WFLA Lodge #20 of Melnik. Evelyn was recently given an award for 30 years of volunteer service with the food commodities in Maribel and Denmark.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: (private); seven grandchildren: (private); four great-grandchildren: (private); two sisters and one brother-in-law: (private); one sister-in-law: (private). Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Anna Bohacek; her husband: Victor Shusta; two brothers: Harvey Bohacek and Ray Bohacek; one sister and brother-in-law: Helen (Leslie) Skarivoda; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Alvin Hagenow; Joseph (Catherine) Shusta; Grace (Bill) Daley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. The Rev. Ronald Colombo will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
