John, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 after a brave battle against Cancer with his family at his side in his home in Lemoore, California. John was born to Joseph Grafton and Opal Kahler on October 2, 1933 in Canton, Illinois and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised with his only sister; Nancy Fry of Iowa. One of John's best friends was Jerry Willard "J.W."

John proudly served our country in the U.S. Army
during the forgotten war. He was a Korean War Veteran, who served from October 1950 - October 1953. He ended his military career in the 45th Infantry Division as a CPL. John was a decorated veteran awarded of several medals; Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star , Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award and the United Nations Service Medal.

John married Mary Ann Hilton at the Justice of the Peace in 1963 in El Monte, California, together they had a beautiful family of seven children; Anita, Vickie, Steve, David, John, Scott and Tim. John was a huge Raider's fan, definitely one of the first and most dedicated and devoted team fan from the beginning days! He wouldn't miss a game. He worked all his life driving trucks. He was a Truck Driver for at least 50 years. He was a big supporter of the Police Activity League and Sheriffs Association for Kings County. Some of John's passions were taking road trips and gaming at the casinos. He especially loved his time with his family.

John was preceded in death by his father; Joseph Grafton and his mother; Opal Kahler and her husband, Bud Kahler.

John is survived by his loving children; Anita Henninger and husband, William, Tim Grafton and wife, Raquel, John Grafton, Scott Grafton and wife, Kathy, David Pleasant, Steve Pleasant and wife, Josephine and Vickie Rodriguez and husband, David. He also leaves behind his niece; Shelly Webb Kinsel and his nephews; Billy Webb and Tommy Webb. John will forever be cherished by his 11 wonderful grandchildren; Candis Rodriguez, Aaron Munoz, Miriam Grafton, Collette Grafton, Michael Tullos, Jon Ross Tullos, Christopher Pleasant, Patricia Pleasant, David Aspenleiter, Jason Aspenleiter and David Rodriguez. He will also be missed by his 10 precious great-grandchildren; Haylei Willhite, Aaron Rodriguez, Cassie Grafton, Jon Ross Tullos, Jr., Anthony Tullos, Christopher Tullos, Cale Aspenleiter, Cameron Aspenleiter, Anastasia Tullos and Taylor Tullos.

"Jack" or "Doc" as most knew John will forever miss him. He touched many hearts that will always cherish his memory
