Mr. Gene Aaron, age 64, of Covington passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014. He was born in Porterdale, Georgia and grew up in the Covington Mill community. Mr. Aaron was a highly decorated career soldier. He served as a paratrooper in the Green Beret and retired as a Sergeant First Class with 20 years of service to his country. Mr. Aaron worked for the Covington Fire Department after he retired from the Army and also owned and operated Aaron Heating and Air for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavada Aaron Brock and a granddaughter, Ahnaleya Faith Clark.

Mr. Aaron is survived by his father and step mother Bill and Mary Brock of Covington, his son Gene Alexander Aaron, Jr of Florida, his daughter Nikki Aaron of North Carolina, his granddaughter Winter Logan also of North Carolina, his brother Gregory Aaron Brock of Meansville, GA and his sisters Camilla Slocomb of Milledgeville, Glenda Gardner of Tennessee and Sonya Denise Reese of Tucker, GA along with numerous other family and close friends.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Aaron at 1 o'clock Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Gravitt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00pm until 1:00pm prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lovejoy United Methodist Church in honor of Mr. Aaron. J.C.
